The right story ready in two minutes.
Twenty free Social Narratives for Australian primary schools — covering changes, routines, big feelings, excursions and therapy days. Written to a strict PDA-informed, neuro-affirming rulebook, not a generic template.

Chosen for what actually comes up first
Not a random sample of the full library. These twenty cover the situations that arrive earliest and most often in a school year — the ones staff go looking for on the morning they’re already needed.
Transitions and unfamiliar adults lead everything
A new class, a relief teacher, a changed plan. These are the most consistently reported flashpoints, so five of the twenty sit here.
Emotional regulation is curriculum, not an extra
It sits inside the Australian Curriculum’s Personal and Social Capability — so four stories cover worry, anger, overwhelm and changed plans directly.
Noise plus unpredictability is the hard combination
Fire drills, assemblies, excursions and camps stack both at once, which is exactly why schools prepare for them in advance.
The day doesn’t end at the school gate
Mornings, bedtime and screen transitions are where families feel it most — and where a shared story between home and school does the most work.
Built against a rulebook, not a template
Every sentence in all 150 stories — free and paid alike — is checked against the same fixed set of rules before it ships. This isn’t generic social-skills content with an Australian accent bolted on.
- No imperatives, anywhere. Never “you must” or “remember to” — only what usually happens.
- Every story ends with a real, named way to ask for a break. Never “have a great day” as a send-off.
- Adults are drawn without a clear face, on purpose — so the story still works whichever relief teacher, therapist or grandparent actually turns up.
- A big feeling is described as a feeling, never as a behaviour to be managed or corrected.
- Nothing is promised that can’t be kept. No “she’ll be back Thursday” — the wording survives a delay.
- Names are checked for decodability, not just diversity, so a beginning reader can sound out every one.
- Laid out for a school photocopier — white background, generous type, colour in small doses only.
Plans can change
Sometimes a plan changes. I might find out before it happens, or when the day is already happening.
If the change feels like too much, I can show my break card or ask for a quiet place.
White space, readable type and colour used only where it helps.
The twenty free stories
Every one opens the real PDF — no email, no signup, no account. Print it, keep it on a tablet, or drop it in a folder ready for the morning it’s needed.
